“Strengthening Local Governance, Decentralization and Sustainable Urban Development through Territorial Approach to Local Economic Development in Sierra Leone” is a project funded by the European Union. The Project is being implemented respectively by six Local Councils in Sierra Leone and Italy: Port Loko District Council, Port Loko City Council, Western Area Rural District Council, Kenema City Council and Kailahun District Council in Sierra Leone and the Commune d of Fano in Italy. It is a three-year project (December 2020- December 2023) with a funding base of EUR 3,904,512.

The overall objective of the action is to strengthen the capacity of local authorities to promote the improvement of quality and accessibility of public services, public participation in the formation of national and local policies, poverty reduction, sustainable development, effective and efficient gender sensitive service delivery in Sierra Leone.

The constriction of these buildings was a step in the right direction especially when it will now serve as a regional office for the new Northwest region. The challenge with accommodation /office space which used to plague the two aforesaid sectors is now a foregone story. The staff are now highly motivated to carry out their assigned roles and responsibilities.
